Hey Changemakers! One of the things that gets lost in conversations right now about Artificial Intelligence changing the workplace and taking jobs is the fact that AI will not be able to do the listening for you to spark change, invite engagement or make an impact. It won't be able to watch for body language with a potential client or read between the lines of someone's words. That's still going to be all you. And, I find that comforting ... don't you? (Insert gif that shows a woman saying "try and replace this" while pointing to herself. :)) Much like my theory that we -- as changemakers -- need to be using emotional intelligence more than ever in our businesses and nonprofits, we also need to keep our ears to ground on what's unfolding for people right now. It's not easy out here and the more in tune with that you are, the more you can speak to the moment. What I'm hearing -- and noticing in my time out in the field -- is a pattern for more connection. People are tired of feeling alone and lonely. They want real relationships. They want community. They want to surround themselves with good people. AI can't do that. But YOU can. And I can. Changemakers will never be replaced by Artificial Intelligence. Human-centered marketing, sales and business practices will always be in style. What I'm working on ...
What I'm proud of ...
What I'm thinking about ... Years ago, I read a book that validated my approach to business ... to give. To give and give and give. Showing up for people, listening and paying attention is how the law of attraction works without all the toxic self-help advice. And so, it's been surprising for me to realize just how TERRIBLE some traditional business tactics are and I've been thinking about calling them out. Selling your offers doesn't have to be toxic. Marketing doesn't have to be forced. But, you do have to sell and you do have to market ... but I am certain being human centered and using emotional intelligence is going to take you further in your business than any hard sells.
