Hello Reader,
I'm one of those people who thrives on change but who also resists it.
In my first business, I remember watching a fellow entrepreneur and mentor change her business model repeatedly -- like four or five times -- all while I had the same single model.
But the truth is, I love change. I love to try new things and do things differently.
And, I love to spark change.
This year I have found my groove in this as a leading mission in my business: To help mission-driven organizations and businesses make change.
Maybe you have a big project you want to make happen ... or something that's been on the backburner because not enough time or money.
Well, my changemaker framework may help you.
It all starts with CLARITY (The C in CHANGE).
Questions to help you find clarity:
- What change do I want to help make happen?
- Who is already working on that change?
- How can I lean in and surround myself with the people doing that work?
More often than not, inaction is due to a lack of clarity.
A lack of clarity can be confusing for potential clients, customers or donors, too.
Clear is Kind, Brené Brown taught me.
So, let's practice getting really, really clear ... and if you need help with that. I can support your mission with strategy that is clear AND kind. Just reach out to me with the link below.
What I'm Working on ...
Another busy, busy week that has been filling me up despite life still life-ing.
- I'm working on changemaker marketing systems for myself and my clients. Maybe you, too, want to be in on this? I'm currently working on designing a GROUP program for just $99 a month just for changemaker entrepreneurs. Interested in being the first to know? Hit reply and I'll tell you a bit more about it!
- Learning Haitian. This is my latest brainchild idea after working in a classroom with little 4-year-old Haitian kiddos in pajamas and realizing I wanted to be able to communicate with them but couldn't. It's surprisingly easy. Props to Duolingo for being such a great resource.
- Started working with mission-driven entrepreneurs offering anti-social marketing strategy. This is currently in a BETA test as I figure out how to provide high level strategy in a clear is kind way but also creates space for creativity and adaptability. (I'm not saying DON'T be on social, just there's another way of marketing now that makes it so much easier to get clients and not burnout.) Need a marketing and communications whisperer for your business or organization? Hit reply and reach out!
What I'm Proud of ...
I'm super proud of a lot of things these days ... it's been a really good horrible weird year and I'm feeling more abundance than ever.
- I am back to my roots on WRITING and self-care and doing the work with my monthly themes over on Substack. Designed for changemakers to do the inner work of tending to yourself, your dreams, and your values. This month's theme is SHAPE.
- Just joined a new group of philanthropists and that feels good right now because surrounding myself with changemakers is how to be a better one.
- Been working with a small group of community members to deliver trainings to local schools on non-criminalizing strategies to work with marginalized students whose behavior is rooted in trauma. Excited to see how we can take this to a new level in the next year.
What I'm thinking about ...
Last week, I mentioned I was thinking about emotional intelligence vs. artificial intelligence and I got a lot of feedback about that. Since then, we've seen artificial intelligence taking more and more jobs and a group of people coming out against super intelligence. I wrote earlier this year that we are in a human superstorm, and that storm is right above us. Waking up and communicating our values effectively is so vital right now. Holding firm to what we believe and what we know to work is essential. Shiny objects are going to come and go but human-centered work will never go out of style. We can give ourselves moments of grace to tune into our own emotional intelligence this week by looking for signs of distress of those around us and leaning in and offering a bit of grace to them. What do you need? Take care of yourself first. And then ... look out beyond yourself and tune into others.
